Many of these same companies have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to sitting members of Congress, according to an investigation by The\u00a0Appeal.\u00a0<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/summitrelocationtimess.com\/?p=13\">Ramirez: \u201cThe call for accountability must not go unanswered. We need an independent prosecutor.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Using Federal Election Commission records, The Appeal has compiled information on every member of Congress who received campaign contributions from the top contractors for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) either through the company\u2019s Political Action Committee (PAC) or executives during the <span>2022<\/span>, <span>2024<\/span> and <span>2026<\/span> election\u00a0cycles.<\/p>\n<p>Over that period, executives at ICE\u2019s biggest contractors donated more than $<span>1<\/span>.<span>7<\/span> million to <span>168<\/span> members of\u00a0Congress.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Palantir CEO Alexander Karp outspent the other executives, donating a\u00a0total of about $<span>465<\/span>,<span>000<\/span>, including nearly $<span>200<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> to\u00a0Democrats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Appeal is publishing its findings in a\u00a0searchable database found below and on a\u00a0standalone web page. Our analysis only includes contributions made to committees directly controlled by the candidates for the <span>2022<\/span>, <span>2024<\/span>, and <span>2026<\/span> election cycles. They donated a\u00a0total of about $<span>880<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> to <span>67<\/span> Democratic members of Congress and about $<span>420<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> to <span>48<\/span>\u00a0Republicans.\u00a0<\/p><\/li><li><p>The five executives at ICE contractors who donated the most amount of money to members of Congress were Palantir\u2019s Karp, Mehdi Alhassani, Shyam Sankar, and Akash Jain, as well as GEO Group CEO George\u00a0Zoley.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Palantir executives donated a\u00a0total of more than $<span>1<\/span>.<span>3<\/span> million to current members of Congress for the <span>2022<\/span>, <span>2024<\/span> and <span>2026<\/span> election cycles\u2009\u2014\u2009more than any other top ICE contractor\u2019s\u00a0executives.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Private prison PACs donated approximately $<span>675<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> to members of Congress, and private prison executives donated close to $<span>380<\/span>,<span>000<\/span>.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Private prison executives donated to only one Democratic member of Congress\u2009\u2014\u2009Rep. Henry Cuellar (Texas.) GEO Group executives donated a\u00a0total of about $<span>33<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> to Cuellar. CoreCivic and GEO Group each operate a\u00a0facility in Cuellar\u2019s district. His office did not respond to requests for\u00a0comment.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Three Democrats in the House received donations from at least one private prison PAC: Reps. Sanford Bishop (Georgia), Cuellar, and Bennie Thompson (Mississippi.) Their offices did not respond to requests for\u00a0comment.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Democrats Bishop and Cuellar each received $<span>21<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> from private prison PACs, more donations from the industry\u2019s PACS than any other member of\u00a0Congress.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\n<p>Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire was the only Democratic senator to receive money from a\u00a0private prison PAC, according to The Appeal\u2019s analysis. FEC records show that she received a $<span>5<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> donation from Management <span>&amp;<\/span>\u00a0Training Corporation\u2019s PAC for the <span>2026<\/span> election\u00a0cycle.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the contribution, a\u00a0Shaheen spokesperson told The Appeal in an email that the senator \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>successfully [rallied] opposition to a\u00a0proposed detention facility in New Hampshire, which has since been halted, and [introduced] legislation that would force any new immigration detention sites around the country to get state and local\u00a0signoff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her office did not answer The Appeal\u2019s question of whether she would refuse private prison donations in the\u00a0future.<br\/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Most of the approximately <span>60<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> people detained by ICE are locked up in for-profit immigration jails. Immigrants in these facilities, including children, have reported that they\u2019re held in atrocious conditions, served inedible food, and deprived of medical care. Of the <span>48<\/span> people who died in ICE custody between January <span>21<\/span>, <span>2025<\/span>, and April <span>1<\/span>, <span>2026<\/span>, about <span>62<\/span> percent were detained in for-profit lock-ups, according to data collected by lawyer and journalist Andrew\u00a0Free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purging Palantir<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Palantir has become a\u00a0primary target of the anti-ICE movement. The tech company, which was co-founded by billionaire Peter Thiel, develops technology to stalk, abduct, and detain people who are not U.S. citizens or are suspected of not being U.S.\u00a0citizens.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company has also come under fire for its role in Israel\u2019s genocide in Gaza. Palantir provides the Israeli government with artificial intelligence systems used to surveil and murder Palestinians. As Ramah Kudaimi and Evan Sutton wrote for <em>In These Times<\/em> in <span>2025<\/span>, Palantir and other tech firms are \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>bringing the tech they\u2019ve honed overseas home to the United\u00a0States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although Palantir has contracted with the federal government since at least <span>2008<\/span>, it only recently became a\u00a0household name.<\/p>\n<p>Groups like Purge Palantir can be credited with increasing public scrutiny of the\u00a0company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Purge Palantir, which describes itself as a\u00a0coalition of organizers and researchers, has launched a\u00a0campaign to demand that candidates and elected officials reject Palantir donations. The group has also published the Palantir Payroll, which tracks campaign contributions made by the company\u2019s\u00a0executives.\u00a0<br\/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>According to The Appeal\u2019s analysis, many Democrats who have spoken out against the Trump administration\u2019s deportation agenda have received money from Palantir executives, including Rep. Josh Riley (New York) who received close to $<span>70<\/span>,<span>000<\/span>; Rep. Maggie Goodlander (New Hampshire) who received about $<span>37<\/span>,<span>000<\/span>; Rep. Pete Aguilar (California) who received $<span>32<\/span>,<span>500<\/span>; Sen. Ruben Gallego (Arizona) who received about $<span>35<\/span>,<span>000<\/span>; and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (New York) who received $<span>25<\/span>,<span>000<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>However, several Democratic members of Congress have heeded activists\u2019 calls and announced that they will refuse donations from Palantir, including Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi (Illinois), Ro Khanna (California), and Pat Ryan (New\u00a0York.)<\/p>\n<p>In a\u00a0statement to The Appeal, Khanna said he would \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>continue to work with National Nurses United and the coalition to encourage other leaders to also take this critical\u00a0pledge.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/summitrelocationtimess.com\/?p=12\">Ramirez: \u201cThe call for accountability must not go unanswered. We need an independent prosecutor.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>National Nurses United, a\u00a0<span>225<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> member union and professional association of registered nurses, is one of many organizations that has been calling for elected officials to reject Palantir\u00a0donations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Palantir executives donated about $<span>35<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> to Khanna for the <span>2022<\/span>, <span>2024<\/span>, and <span>2026<\/span> election cycles, according to The Appeal\u2019s analysis. Khanna said he has donated all contributions he received from the company\u2019s\u00a0executives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a\u00a0phone call with The Appeal, Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-Virginia) said he does not \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>plan on taking money from Palantir now or in the future,\u201d and that he will donate money that he has received to nonprofits in the area that help immigrant communities. In <span>2024<\/span>, Palantir executive Jain donated about $<span>1<\/span>,<span>500<\/span> to Subramanyam\u2019s\u00a0campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span>I\u2019ve actually expressed to Palantir directly my concerns about what\u2019s going on in immigration enforcement, and that I\u00a0hope the company would be willing to put its foot down and set very clear boundaries of what it will and won\u2019t do,\u201d Subramanyam said. \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>They heard my feedback, and we\u2019ll see what they do moving\u00a0forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked if he had also raised the issue of the company\u2019s participation in the genocide in Gaza, the congressman said, \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>that didn\u2019t come up,\u201d and that the conversation was \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>mostly focused on\u00a0immigration.\u201d<br\/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><noscript>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-medium_large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"chart visualization\" class=\"wp-image-16\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/summitrelocationtimess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/be803cc724f92a2edf3d637b064fcf4f-768x375.jpg\" width=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/summitrelocationtimess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/be803cc724f92a2edf3d637b064fcf4f-768x375.jpg 768w, https:\/\/summitrelocationtimess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/be803cc724f92a2edf3d637b064fcf4f-300x146.jpg 300w, https:\/\/summitrelocationtimess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/be803cc724f92a2edf3d637b064fcf4f.jpg 1020w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/noscript><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A spokesperson for Sen. John Hickenlooper\u2019s (D-Colorado) campaign told The Appeal in an email that the congressman \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>stopped accepting donations from Palantir employees after the company announced a\u00a0contract with DHS [Department of Homeland Security] to develop an extensive surveillance platform for ICE last\u00a0year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson said that \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>Hickenlooper is donating those campaign funds he previously received to local non-profits who provide legal assistance, shelter, and other services to immigrants in\u00a0Colorado.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Palantir executives donated about $<span>44<\/span>,<span>000<\/span> to Hickenlooper\u2019s campaign for the <span>2024<\/span> and <span>2026<\/span> election\u00a0cycles.<br\/><\/p>\n<p>In an email to The Appeal, Rep. Ritchie Torres\u2019 (D-New York) campaign said that Karp\u2019s contributions \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>have been donated to charity,\u201d and that they will not accept donations from Palantir executives in the future. In <span>2024<\/span>, Karp contributed $<span>6<\/span>,<span>600<\/span> to Torres\u2019\u00a0campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Greg Stanton (D-Arizona) donated the $<span>500<\/span> he received from Palantir executive Benjamin Klein to the Latino justice organization, Maremoto, according to his\u00a0office.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Mike Levin\u2019s (D-California) campaign said they \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>have returned all of those contributions, and will not accept any further contributions from Palantir executives.\u201d Palantir executive Alhassani donated about $<span>4<\/span>,<span>300<\/span> to Levin\u2019s campaign last year, according to FEC\u00a0records.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas), who has been an outspoken critic of Trump\u2019s deportation campaign, said that she had been unaware of a $<span>500<\/span> donation made in <span>2021<\/span> to her campaign by Alhassani until notified by The\u00a0Appeal.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span>I have consistently declined meetings with Palantir and their executives and have spoken out against the company and their practices,\u201d she said in a\u00a0statement to The Appeal. \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>I wouldn\u2019t purposely take money from the private corporations profiting off of inhumane detention facilities, especially given how outspoken I\u00a0am about them. I\u2019m grateful the donation was brought to my attention and will donate it to the organizations doing the work on the\u00a0ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Jason Crow\u2019s (D-Colorado) campaign told The Appeal in an email that the congressman \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>will donate these campaign contributions to charitable organizations working to protect immigrants and civil rights in\u00a0Colorado.\u201d<br\/><\/p>\n<p>However, other legislators were less forthcoming when asked if they would refuse contributions from Palantir\u00a0executives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A spokesperson for Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-Massachusetts) told The Appeal in an email that the \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>congressman\u2019s voting record speaks for itself,\u201d noting that \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>he has repeatedly voted against writing a\u00a0blank check for\u00a0ICE.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson did not answer The Appeal\u2019s questions about whether Auchincloss would make charitable donations offsetting contributions he has received from Palantir executives and whether he would pledge to reject all future donations. His <span>2026<\/span> campaign has received about $<span>22<\/span>,<span>000<\/span>\u00a0in donations from Palantir executives, according to The Appeal\u2019s\u00a0analysis.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Adam Smith (D-Washington), who has received about $<span>80<\/span>,<span>000<\/span>\u00a0in donations from Palantir executives, defended the company\u2019s contributions to his\u00a0campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a\u00a0statement to The Appeal, he said he supports \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>legislation to regulate how the government uses a\u00a0variety of technologies, including technology by\u00a0Palantir.\u201d\u00a0<br\/><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span>Domestically, I\u00a0oppose the use of technology that leads to racial profiling or the unlawful surveillance of people in our country,\u201d Smith said. \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>Accepting legal, transparent campaign contributions changes none of\u00a0that.\u201d<br\/><\/p>\n<p>Immigrant rights group Make the Road States has joined Purge Palantir\u2019s call for elected officials to reject Palantir\u00a0donations.<\/p>\n<p>Sara Cullinane, Deputy Director of Make the Road States, told The Appeal that Palantir is the \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>tech backbone of\u00a0ICE.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span>Palantir, in many ways, has a\u00a0front seat in this administration, and is helping to drive an agenda that includes surveillance, deportation, and disappearances of immigrants,\u201d said Cullinane. \u200b<span>\u201c<\/span>We want to make sure that we are exposing the members of Congress who are in bed with one of ICE\u2019s top corporate\u00a0colluders.\u201d<br\/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Find out if your representatives have taken cash from Palantir, the private prison industry and other companies fueling ICE\u2019s mass deportation efforts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":14,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-17","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-investigation"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
